Hi, I’m Mandi.

My role and desire as a doula is to support parents in having peaceful, positive and healthy prenatal, birth and postpartum experiences.

Congratulations on bringing a little human into the world! I am in awe of your body and what it can do. Pregnancy and babies have fascinated me since I was a little one myself. When I was 5 years old, I wrote that I wanted to grow up to be a “baby doctor“ in my kindergarten “All About Me” book. I have always felt an impulse to nurture others, and at the age of 4, I vividly remember calming a crying child in my playgroup when their mom dropped them off. My innate maternal instincts and intuitive compassionate heart have been key players in my life, and guided me towards childcare. I’ve spent 20 years working as a nanny (and postpartum doula, without knowing that was a thing!) with children and families of all ages, sizes and backgrounds.

In 2012 I graduated from Boston University with a degree in psychology, with a focus on child development. Since then I have spent much of my time traveling the world living in spiritual intentional communities, working as a personal chef/baker, nannying from NY to CA (currently living in Berkeley), and studying the enneagram*. These beautiful experiences involved a lot of deep self-work which ultimately helped guide me towards remembering my childhood dream of becoming a birth worker. I have completed my DONA Birth Doula training, and my DONA Postpartum Doula Training as well as Doula Thrive, a year long doula training program that digs even deeper into this sacred work. I am also a HypnoBirthing instructor and love to support families with this beautiful teaching and philosophy.

I am committed to deeper exploration and learning about all things birth and postpartum so that I can offer parents the latest evidence-based information and the most compassionate, attuned care possible.

My goal is to support you in having your own unique birth and postpartum experience. Every birth and baby is incredibly individual, but every mama and parent deserves to be fully informed, respected, supported, loved, and empowered throughout welcoming a baby. With that support can come a truly powerful birth and postpartum experience. I will be your biggest advocate for this profound, life changing event. I value arming parents with knowledge, confidence, and trust, and I offer a completely non-judgemental space where parents feel seen, heard, and held.

*I have found the enneagram to be an incredibly comprehensive and beautiful tool that has greatly expanded my capacity for compassion, and has widened my awareness of the spectrum of the human experience. I would love to bring this tool into our prenatal and postpartum meetings if you are familiar and feel it could be helpful and rich to do so. If you are unfamiliar and curious, I would love to share more about it and have many resources to offer you. Just ask!
